Skylanders how many are there

As the series was dying down and most people had moved on from collecting the Skylanders figures, production numbers dropped.

Because of this, the final run of Skylanders figures for the Imaginators game have become some of the rarest Skylanders out there. The rarest of these figures is Ro-Bow because this was the very last Skylanders figure ever released. All of the Skylanders: Imaginators figures were difficult to find, but Ro-Bow was nearly impossible to get. Around December , rumors began to fly around the Skylanders community that a mysterious Red Camo and Crystal Clear Whirlwind had surfaced.

Initially, fans could not pin down where the figures were coming from and why they were so hard to find. Over the Summer of , Skylanders released three very rare figures for the Skylanders: Giants game. Only 1, units of each figure were produced and released to various retailers. Skylanders collectors had to hunt down these Metallic Purple variants, which now sell for hundreds of dollars on eBay.

When one Skylander runs out of health they become too tired to carry on and the player is asked to place a new figure on the portal. When all the Skylanders have been exhausted they will need to start the level again, whereupon each figure is returned to full health. Because of this later levels of the game can be quite hard to complete with only a small set of figures.

In addition to upgrades players can pick up "hats" that offer a specific boost to stats when they are worn. There are also bonuses for owning all the Skylanders for a particular element or grouping all the dragon Skylanders for instance.

There are also a variety of battle modes where players can fight against each other in closed arenas. Challenge modes are also provided for each character you own, completing these offer a further stats upgrade. Skylanders Giants promises to offer new arena battles as well as new challenges for new and old Skylander characters.

Figures for the first game were released in waves, so that not all figures were available from the off. At times this caused the demand for particular figures to outstrip supply, but this was soon rectified for subsequent releases. It is likely that a similar approach will be followed for Skylanders Giants. In addition to the console game there is a 3DS version that comes with its own miniature portal peripheral.

This uses the same figures as the main games but upgrades in each are kept separate, so progressing your character on the console game doesn't help when you next play on the 3DS. There is also a Web world that players can explore and play in. Much speculation was given as to how the traps would be incorporated into future games, and the answer was, unfortunately, not very well if at all. Save for a few standouts the new Trap Master figures were generally disappointing, and requiring them to unlock everything in the game was irksome.

One standout feature that Trap Team added: tower defense survival mode. These were fantastic challenge modes, built for various levels of Skylanders, and a fun way to earn experience and level up outside the main game. They also played perfectly in co-op. For whatever reason, the mode was dropped in future games.

The third game in the Skylanders series was the first developed by Vicarious Visions, instead of series creator Toys for Bob. Like the annualized Call of Duty series, Activision would appoint two studios to keep up with the yearly output of new entries. Vicarious Visions created an excellent entry that provided some of the biggest, best level designs the series has ever offered.

Plus you could finally jump, a first for the series that opened up the level designs even more. But the real treat was the incredibly cool swap gimmick. Their ancient mission is to protect Skylands and its magical Core of Light that kept the ultimate force behind all evil, The Darkness , at bay.

Using their magical powers and machinery, the Skylanders defended their world for generations with the help of the Portal Masters. Spyro the Dragon is implied to take the leader role of the Skylanders when a Portal Master isn't available.

So far, there are a total of main Skylanders in the series. Vicarious Visions took over developing Skylanders: Swap Force , creating a whole new atmosphere for the franchise. Battlegrounds - Battlecast - Ring of Heroes.
